Japanese Fish Burger

A tasty Japanese take on the traditional fish burger, with white fish fillets that are crispy-fried and served with a savory sauce and cool toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 300g white fish fillet such as cod or haddock
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Pickled ginger
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

The white fish fillet should be cut into four pieces of the same size

Stir the egg in a small bowl

Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate small bowl

First coat each piece of fish fillet with flour, then egg, and finally panko breadcrumbs

Put vegetable oil in a pan and heat it over medium-high heat

Before you fry the fish fillets, make sure they are golden brown and cooked all the way through

Put soy sauce, sesame oil, and mayonnaise in a small bowl and mix them together to make a sauce

Toast the buns until they are just barely golden in a toaster or on a griddle

Put some sauce on the bottom half of each bun

Cover the sauce with a lettuce leaf

Place a piece of fried fish on top of the lettuce

Add pickled ginger, sliced cucumber, and tomato slices on top

To finish the burger, put the top half of the bun on top
